A former newpaper photographer that has traveled extensively throughout the United States and the Carribean. William recieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Central Connecticut State University. William McChesney began his interest in photography after being exposed to Edward Weston and Ansel Adams images over 30 years ago. As a young adult William concentrated on wide format photography using an 8x10 view camera and black and white film and using the same film (Ilford) and special formula developers used by Ansel Adams. William 's early work was patterned after the f/64 group genre. An avid hiker as a young adult William hiked the Pacific Crest Trail carrying a wooden 8x10 view camera with a triple convertor Schneider Kreuznach lense. Today William shoots exclusively digital photography using Hasseblad and Canon cameras. Today the convienence of digital media outweighs quality issues in relation to film. William's approach to photography is simple; drawing on nature and American Culture for images, he travels extensively seeking vibrant colorful subject matter that is complimented by digital color media. Constantly seeking out pristing lakes or large fields of wildflowers. William has had the opportunity to photograph some of the most beautiful scenery in the country and the Carribean. William resides in the White Mountains of New Hampsire near numerous ski areas on Newfound Lake which is often the subject matter of many of his photographs.
